Sally L. Gladwell
Founder
Sally is an environmental scientist who serves as a Senior Vice President and Senior Principal for The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. She initiated and led the project to expand and revitalize the City of Toledo’s Schneider Park, the only publicly owned space in Toledo devoted to the world’s favorite sport. For over three decades, Sally has been at the forefront of environmental transformation—blending science, strategy, and community insight to spark change where it’s needed most. She brings 33+ years of experience driving community revitalization, guiding environmental due diligence, restoring natural resources, and championing sustainability.
Sally’s work doesn’t stop at cleanup—she’s a connector of people and places, helping communities reimagine their landscapes through inclusive engagement and lasting impact. Whether she’s navigating complex projects or mentoring the next generation of environmental leaders, Sally brings vision, integrity, and a deep-rooted passion for making places thrive.
Sally’s first exposure to The Beautiful Game was in elementary school where she played on the same team as her future husband, Jason Thomas. Jason’s dad was their coach. Sally and Jason raised three soccer-loving children who each played from the time they were four through high school. Much of their training was at Schneider Park when it was comprised of just four humble fields with parking lots that resembled the surface of the moon! Jason died unexpectedly in 2019, and it’s for him that Schneider Park’s dual mini-pitches are named.
Sally has served on the Ohio Soccer Association Board since 2023 and as Vice President since 2025.
In early 2024, Sally founded Glass City TOPSoccer as a way to provide a fully-inclusive, free soccer program that could be offered at Schneider Park.

Through the assistance of buddies and coaches, the athletes are encouraged to give their best effort, work hard to be their best, and join their fellow players to be great teammates. It takes a village to launch and sustain something like Glass City TOPSoccer. We invite you to be a part of
